- Iowa has 525 establishments in the BioScience Industry which employs 16,574 people. Wisconsin has 752 establishments in the BioScience Industry which employs 24,694 people. Minnesota has 919 establishments in the BioScience Industry which employs 40,165 people.
- The total annual geographically variable operation costs are significantly lower in the Midwest compared to the West Coast.
- In Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota between 77-86% of all the corn planted is of biotech variety. In the same three states, between 85-95% of all the soybeans planted are of biotech variety.
