Housing Needs Assessment

Program description: We will provide financial assistance in completing a regional, county or community-wide level housing assessment.

Conditions:

  • Communities must meet the eligibility guidelines with the exception: communities do not need an available industrial building or improved site.
  • The county, region or community economic development organization agrees to contract with an approved consultant for a comprehensive housing assessment that will satisfy state or federal housing program requirements.
  • The housing assessment report should, at a minimum, include the following: 1) demographics: population, income and employment trends; 2) documentation of the existing number of housing units (by type) and their condition, construction trends, occupancy, value prices and rents; 3) a determination of future housing needs based on key trends, affordability and total demand; and 4) a recommended action plan for meeting future housing needs.
  • A region, county or community economic development organization may receive funds only once within a five-year period.

Award: Forty (40) percent of the cost up to a maximum of $1,500.
